About Salvation

Will you by faith receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour?

A WORD ABOUT SALVATION

Here at FBC, we strive to be “People of the Book”.  The Bible says, in James 1:21  Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. The truth is that we do not worship the Bible, however, we understand that we would know nothing about Salvation without the bible.  So we have taken a moment to print a short BIBLICAL understanding of New Testament Salvation.

You will notice that much more could be said, but the truth is, you really need to know what the Bible says.  So in this segment, you will see mainly the scriptures with as few of our comments as possible.  As always if you more questions please feel free to email at myers1611 [at] gmail.com or call the church at 573-749-3515.

New Testament Salvation

Step 1: The Sinner

There is a reason you need to be saved!

“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” (Rom. 3:10)

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Rom. 3:23)

Step 2: The Sentence

There is a penalty for your sin – eternal death!

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” (Rom. 5:12)

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Rom. 6:23)

Step 3: The Saviour

God has made the provision for your sinful condition – Christ!

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Rom. 5:8)

Step 4: The Scope

“Whosoever”

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” (John 1:12)

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Rom. 10:9-10)

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Rom. 10:13)

Hebrews 9: [27] And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Ephesians 2: [8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.
